This campaign gives me the forum to explain why an opposition vote to the incorporation of Carmel Valley should be cast.
I oppose the incorporation of Carmel Valley for many reasons buth the immediate one is because of the increase of my Hacienda Carmel Community flood insurance rate. This increase is estimated to be between $71,510 (per LAFCO CFA report) and $232,407 (from our insurance broker). And of course, there is the silliness of adding another layer of government.
During my life, I have served as an independent Certified Public Accountant in Carmel, and later as your elected County Treasurer/Tax Collector, and, finally, as a Professor of Accounting and Taxation. I have, also, authored two texts on understanding financial statements.
